A Yellow Rosé?

Summary
Wine:     2023 Daou Rosé
Region:  Paso Robles, California
Grape:   Grenache
Style:     Dry rosé
Alcohol: 13.7%
Producer: Daou Vineyards

La Costanera is a warm, lively Peruvian restaurant in Half Moon Bay. I chose the 2023 Daou Rosé from Paso Robles to pair with the vibrant mix of flavors (which it did).

The Daou Rosé had solid structure with high acid and alcohol with melon notes dominating the aroma and palate.

But what surprised me was the color. In the bottle, it’s pink but in the glass, it’s yellow. I set it against a white plate to be sure.

A visual contradiction indeed.
